"Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are
simple." - Dr. Seuss
Objective
The purpose of this assignment is twofold: (1) review computing the bearings
of a traverse based on survey data and a reference bearing; and (2) use a spreadsheet to compute the
area of traverse and the x and y coordinates of the
points of the site assigned to for Project #3.
You
must hand in the
coversheet the assignment your work for Part 1 and printouts of your spreadsheet
for Part 2. Also, submit your
Excel file
for Part 2 to Canvas.
Part 1: Using the traverse data typically collected in the
lab, determine the bearings of each side and then use your traverse spreadsheet
to compute the corrected and balanced latitudes and departures for the traverse.
Show all work to determine the bearing of each side (follow the homework format)
Part 2: Use your traverse spreadsheet to compute the latitude and departures, balance
the latitudes and departures with the compass rule, area using DMD,
the x and y coordinates, assuming point A is (200,
200), and plot the traverse area.
