| The Civil Engineering
Department can offer research assistantships to
well-qualified students. Assistantships are
awarded competitively based on an assessment of
each student’s transcripts, test scores, and
letters of recommendation. Before you can be
considered for an assistantship, you must first
apply and be accepted into the graduate program.
You must
apply online.
Just click on the "First time user account
creation" link near the bottom of the page to
create your online account and begin the
application process. There is a non-refundable
application fee of $35 for domestic applicants
and $60 for international applicants. The fee
must be paid by credit card.

Applicants whose highest degree is from a
foreign university must have their transcripts
evaluated on a course-by-course basis by one of
the credentialing agencies listed on the
National Association of Credential Evaluation
Services' website (www.naces.org). This evaluation can be done
AFTER we accept you to the program and, if we
provide you with an assistantship, we will
reimburse you for the cost as part of your
assistantship.
Additional admissions information can be
found at the
Graduate Admissions Office website.
All students requesting financial assistance
must complete the
Assistantship Application Form
and
submit three
Letters of Recommendation from
previous instructors attesting to the student’s
academic ability and potential to do
graduate-level research.
The deadline to apply for an assistantship
for Fall Semester is May 1 of the same year. The
deadline to apply for an assistantship for
Spring Semester is September 15 of the previous
year. These deadlines apply to both domestic and
international students seeking an assistantship.
