Erik Andersen (MSCE, 2002) and DJ Wiseman (BSCE, 2002) were married in July and are living in Nashville. Erik has been working with the Tennessee Department of Transportation for the last three years. He has been responsible for completing planning studies, functional designs, bridge advance planning reports, and roadway safety audit reviews. He has recently moved to highway-rail crossing safety, where he will review at grade crossings for improvements. DJ completed her MS degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla. She has had several journal articles published and presented at the Joint American Waste Management Association EPA Indoor Air Quality Problems and Engineering Solutions International Symposium in NC. She has been working at Clinard Engineering for the last two years performing erosion control inspections and writing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans.

Janet Condra Berry (BSCE 1981, MSCE 1982) has been selected as the Chief of the Civil Design Branch in the Engineering and Construction Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis District. She has worked for the Corps of Engineers for 23 years, including three years at the Engineer Research and Development Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Most recently she served as a Team Leader for the General Engineering Team in the Memphis District. Janet is a graduate of the Department of Defense Executive Leadership Development Program. In her new position, she manages five teams including General Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Cost Engineering and Relocations, and Inspection of Completed Works.

Russell Brasfield (BSCE 2000) worked for EOCR in roadway design immediately after graduation.  In the fall of 2002, he began working for Buchart-Horn in the roadway and aviation areas.  Since September 2004, he has been working with Kimley-Horn and Associates in Land Development.  He passed the PE exam in 2005.  He and wife Kirsten have been married since 2004.

Matt Caskey (MSCE 2001) is president of Geopier Foundation Company - MidSouth, LLC, a specialty foundation company providing rammed aggregate pier solutions in Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi and Missouri.  Matt lives with his wife Miranda and sons Clay and Connor in Arlington, Tennessee.

Richard " Dee" Crick (BSCE 1999) works for Memphis Light, Gas and Water in the Customer Engineering Department. He is currently filling in as Supervisor over the North District. This Department works with Residential and Commercial Customers to design the electric, gas, and some water needs for the customer. His responsibility is to review and sign off on all of the sketches that Department designs. He has worked for MLGW since January, 2000.

Drake Danley, P.E. (BSCE 1994) is the Director of the Transportation Department in the Memphis office of Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. He is currently serving as the Project Engineer for TDOT's Walnut Grove Road improvements in east Memphis. His wife Shannon works as a teacher/naturalist at the Lichterman Nature Center. Their 4 year old son, Jack, has stated his intentions to become Batman.

Tom and Charissa Derieg (BSCE 2004) proudly announce the birth of their twin boys, Samuel Francis and Daniel Thomas.  The boys were born on June 20.  Sam weighed 3 pounds, 11 ounces, and was 16.5 inches long, while Dan weighed 2 pounds, 8 ounces, and was 15.5 inches long.  Both boys are now home from the hospital and are doing well!

 Gregory Dotson, P.E. (BSCE 1997) worked for PDR Engineers in traffic signal design and transportation studies immediately after graduation.  In the fall of 1998, he began working for Storage USA as a Project Engineer in the Construction Services Department.  After this department phased out, he went to work for Parsons Transportation Group from 2001 to 2003.  Since January of 2004, he has been working with Gresham Smith and Partners in the Transportation/ITS areas.   He and wife Chundra have been married since September 1996 and they have three kids – 13, 8, and 7 .

Jeffrey Doudrick (BSCE 2003) began working with PSI immediately following graduation, focusing on construction services and geotechnical projects in the Memphis office. He then transferred to the Kansas City, Missouri office in August 2004, where he continued to work on geotechnical projects.  In March 2006, he began working for HNTB in Kansas City, where he now serves as a water resources engineer for projects including pipe networks, stream bank stabilization, highway drainage, and watershed modeling.  He is also currently pursuing a Master’s degree in geotechnical and water resources engineering at UMKC and KU. Jeff and wife Janell have been married for two years. 

John Paul Finerson (BSCE 1995) works for Lehman-Roberts Company in Memphis.  His work primarily involves estimating and project management. 

Best wishes to Ed Hoppe (BSCE 1974) for a speedy recovery from some recent health problems. Ed is the Head of the Programs and Contract Division for the Arkansas Department of Transportation. Ed was one of the founding members of the legendary Steel Sewer.

David Howell (BSCE 2004) is a civil engineer with ETI Corporation and has been doing most of his work in the land development field. David has been working on projects that include a 300 acre commercial site in Southaven, MS and a 250 acre commercial site in Collierville, TN.

Heidi Hubbard (BSCE 2005) works for Buchart-Horn, Inc. in Memphis, TN. She began with Buchart-Horn as an intern and has since been promoted to a Grade I, Engineer in Training within the past two years. Heidi has had the opportunity to work on several local and state projects like the CN Johnston Yard Railway Extension, GIS model of the Shelby County storm drain system, and State Route 62 in Knox County.

Chris Marshall (BSCE 1996) is a geotechnical engineer with Golder Associates Inc. and has recently relocated from St. Louis, MO to Pass Christian, MS. He recently worked on a project in Qatar, overseeing a soil improvement project for LNG tanks, and has co-authored a publication for the FHWA, entitled “Context Sensitive Roadway Surfacing Selection Guide.” Chris’s wife Lan recently completed her medical residency, and is now a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician in Gulfport, MS. 

Brian Meyer (BSCE 2004) and wife Jennie proudly announce the birth of their son Jacob.  Jacob was born on June 21, and is already laughing and “talking.”  The family has relocated to Columbia, South Carolina, where Brian is working as a research and development engineer for a steel deck company called Consolidated Systems, Inc.  He is currently finishing up a project involving a cruise ship terminal being built in Houston.  He is helping to develop the curved panel ceiling system.

Jason Mayo (BSCE 2001, MSCE 2003) is a design engineer at Memphis Light, Gas and Water.  Over the last three years Jason has worked in the overhead electric transmission engineering department.  Jason and his wife, Lisa, have two children, ( Davis 3, Lizzie 3 months)

Tammy Hornberger Perkins (BSCE 1993, MSCE 1995) is a Project Manager with Weaver Boos Consultants in Griffith, Indiana, where she provides consulting services to large landfill companies and performs construction quality assurance and state permitting.  She and husband Cy have a daughter, Amanda, who is now 2 years old. 

Our condonences to Steve Ray (BSCE 1974) on the loss of his uncle, Dr. John Ray. Many of you will remember Dr. Ray as a professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department. Dr. Ray passed away earlier this summer.

Darren J. Sanders, P.E. (BSCE 1996) was recently promoted to Deputy County Engineer for Shelby County, TN.  Prior to his position as Deputy, Darren was managing the Shelby County Storm Water Program.  His wife Amy is a coding case analyst for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Jason Sholtz (BSCE 2000) works with EnSafe, Inc. He is part of the newly organized "EnSafe Blue" – a division dedicated to Civil Engineering Services (municipal services, environmental, industrial wastewater treatment, site development). Jason recently passed the P.E. exam. He and his wife of almost 6 years, Jessica, live in Collierville and are expecting their first child in mid-December. Jessica recently received her Master's Degree in Nursing and is currently working as a Nurse Practitioner at Family Healthcare of Millington.

Jonathan Smith (BSCE 2003) is the staff engineer for the City of Lakeland.  In addition to his responsibilities to the citizens of Lakeland, he is also responsible for the Phase II MS4 program for the City. Jonathan and his wife Kathryn live in Cordova.

Andy Simmerman (BSCE 1999) works for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis District.  He has worked for the Corps for the past ten years.  Since beginning at the Corps, he has worked in Geospatial Engineering, River Engineering, and is currently working in the Project Management Division.  He has also worked in New Orleans, LA helping the city rebuild and recover from Hurricane Katrina, since January 2006.  He is currently pursuing a Master of Engineering Management (MEM) Degree at Christian Brothers University.  He lives in downtown Memphis and enjoys traveling, personal fitness, and the outdoors.

Michael Tapp (BSCE 1996) has worked with Barge, Waggoner, Sumner & Cannon in Nashville since 1998.  He is a member of the transportation department, working primarily in highway design.  He passed the PE examination in 2003.  He and his wife, Lisa, have been married since 1999 and have three children, Anna Kate (5), Julie (3) and David (1).

Matt (BSCE 2001, MBA 2005) and Stacy Turner (BSCE 2001) proudly announce the birth of their second son, William Enoch. Matt and Stacy’s oldest child, Grady, is 19 months old. Matt is employed by the Corps of Engineers, Memphis District. He has worked with the Corps since January 2005, and is currently part of the Civil Design Branch.

Cory Williams (BSCE 1996) is a geotechnical engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis District.  Over the past year, Cory has worked on levee improvement projects in New Orleans, LA following Hurricane Katrina.   Cory and his wife, Joy have 2 boys, (Ben 6, Jake 2) and are expecting their 3 rd child in March.
