Consider the following
two-dimensional plane truss. For the given node numbering scheme, determine
the displacements of each node and the member forces. Check your results by
using the method of sections and the method of joints from static analysis.
For computational purposes assume a P = 10 kips, E = 29,000 ksi, L = 10 ft,
and A = 4 in2.

Solution: The approximate vertical deflection at node 3 is -0.04995 inches and
the force in element defined by
nodes 1 and 2 is 7.071 kips (T).
